A Parent's Nightmare with GlassesUSA: Read This Before You Buy! 😡
I'm writing this as a warning to other parents. My experience buying glasses for my son turned into a nightmare, which I detailed in my online review: "We ordered a pair of glasses for our 12-year-old after he found them using the virtual try-on, but he said he had trouble seeing with them. We went back to the doctor to check everything, and he informed us that the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The PD is typically measured by the person from whom you purchase the glasses, not the doctor. The glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value of 62 (adult) or another value for kids. Of course, that means the value will be wrong for many buyers. Please know you will never be able to reach a human at glassesusa and have a real phone conversation if you call them, so plan on frustration if your glasses are not correct. Email interactions are too slow, causing the process to drag on." After this infuriating process, I felt compelled to try one last time to get through to their customer service for a real solution.
Customer: My son's glasses are wrong. His doctor said you used an adult's pupil distance. Why doesn't your site ask for this critical measurement? He can't see with them! CS Rep: I am so sorry to hear about this error and the frustration it has caused. That is completely unacceptable. Could you please provide your order number so I can arrange for a free replacement immediately? Customer: It’s #12345. I've been trying to reach a human for days. This whole process has been a nightmare for my son, and your system seems designed to avoid customers. CS Rep: I sincerely apologize for the difficulty reaching us. I see the order, and you are correct about the PD. I am processing a free remake now and will email you a prepaid return label. Customer: So he has to go without glasses while we wait for you to fix your mistake? How long will that take? CS Rep: I understand your concern. To minimize the wait, we will start working on the replacement as soon as the return package is scanned by the carrier, not when it arrives back here.
The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent other parents from falling into the same trap.
